You might have seen some of the recent media coverage about this, but we recently announced that in Q4 of last year Vyke (www.vyke.com) increased its average new net additions by over 50%. That’s a massive increase and one Vyke has achieved on the back of almost zero marketing spend.
Vyke is the original AppVNOTM service – it is an app-based MVNO which users download to subscribe to multiple mobile numbers, share credit and make free calls and texts to other Vyke subscribers.
Describing the growth Iqbal Marica of Vyke said that even in the pandemic:
“People still wanted to stay in touch with loved ones around the globe. They also wanted the additional flexibility of extra phone numbers, for social media app registration, dating or use for business calls.”
The growth of Vyke’s subscriber numbers has been matched by a growth in the enquiries for new AppVNOs that x-Mobility has seen.
Shanks Kulam, x-Mobility’s co-founder said of this:
“2020 has seen a decrease in the number of new SIM-based MVNOs launching, but a dramatic increase in the number of digital MVNOs launching and enquiring.”
Vyke operates globally and x-Mobility has recently launched new AppVNO clients in Africa and has new global launches coming soon. It looks as if 2021 could be the global year of the digital MVNO.
